Uncertain about what service to choose?

Here's how to decide:

If your body has a lot of tension and you have an acute pain or injury, you may just choose to do a deep-tissue somato-emotional massage.  We'll still be spending some time on energy work to get your nervous system to relax and to get to the root of the tension, however, my intuitive abilities are much more limited when I'm doing deep tissue massage, as I'm working on a denser field.  Some people like to spend a portion of the time on energy work, grounding and emotional resourcing and another portion of the time with massage because of this.  You can also do the somato-emotional piece during the massage, I just move more slowly and rely on more dialogue with you to track what's in your field.  If you want to go very deep, feel grounding and spiritual connection, clarity, feel energy moving, get a lot of intuitive guidance and emotional transformation, I recommend sticking to energy work alone.  Doing just energy work without massage helps me go much deeper into your field and to bring in spiritual guidance, transformation and resource.

Somadi offers a wide variety of massage services, including: Somato-Emotional Release Massage, Reiki, Coaching, Deep Tissue Massage, Thai Massage, Chakra Balancing, Transformational Coaching, Craniosacral Therapy and Ayurvedic Panchakarma Abyanga Massage.  Oftentimes clients like to experience a combination of techniques in their sessions.  In most bodywork sessions, I may lead you through meditations, breathwork, and tracking what mental or emotional tension, beliefs or nervous system patterning may be creating the tension in the body and mind.  Your level of engagement is optional depending on your needs- some days you will need to receive some deep nourishment in silence and other days you will want  someone to guide you in your dive into the root of the tension so that it can be transformed and you can feel more whole and empowered.  When booking a session, think about what you really need on all levels.  We can work together to tailor the experience to whatever you need.

Somato-Emotional Release Massage uses breath, touch and awareness to make contact with and clear emotional and energetic blockages in the body, leading to a sense of embodiment, empowerment and wholeness.  What I've found from working with so many people is that the body stores emotions and belief systems that, when out of alignment with our true nature, cut off the flow of energy and create either physical or emotional pain.  Certain emotions and beliefs tend to be stored in specific parts of the body.  Somato-Emotional Release Massage allows us to breathe into and release the parts of ourselves that we've rejected, denied or disowned.   At the same time, we are working together to embody more of our true nature through a deep sense of connection, self-love and feelings of empowerment, safety and security.

Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.  I still include a somato-emotional component to get your body to open up and the nervous system to respond more quickly.  Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle yet profound non-invasive, hands-on treatment for the whole body.  Performed on a massage table, the client is fully clothed and the touch is generally light and still.  The treatment is focused on supporting the health of the whole being, especially the nervous system.  This is the system that dictates all of the body’s functioning,  constantly sending and receiving information.  Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists understand how an optimally functioning healthy nervous system performs.  We are trained for years on how to use acute perception skills to perceive subtle physiological changes.  We also are aware of the energetic map that underlies one‘s basic health and symptomology.  We believe that health is never lost no matter what the ailment.  We use our ability to identify the parts of the nervous system that are not functioning optimally and our awareness of the “always available health” in the body to assist the system in bringing itself back into balance. This supports greater ease and helps the body decrease symptoms.

Chakra Balancing:  In chakra balancing, I scan the chakras to see which chakras are blocked and I open them or allow the emotion buried to be released.  Usually, when out of balance, a chakra is either undercharged and needs charging or it is overcharged and needs energy to be disbursed.  These energetic imbalances come from beliefs, emotions, or thoughts, originating both in childhood and from present circumstances.  When an emotion or experience feels too scary or like too much to handle, we create energetic walls or blocks to separate the emotion from our consciousness.  What I do is physically open the channel again, letting the separated part be seen, heard, and given safety and care so that it can heal and start thriving again.  What you'll feel is a feeling of grounding, connectedness, sweetness, love and safety as energy flows more freely through your being.  I connect you to safety in the earth and physical plane as well as to the support of spirit/source.  Afterward, people say that they feel "like themselves" or "like a new person."

Intuitive Coaching:  In intuitive coaching, I connect to Spirit to read your body and what is happening in your field.  You'll practice setting energetic boundaries, making decisions from your center, using the gifts of anger in a healthy manner, getting out of collapse and into power, and how to get out the head and into your body/center/wholeness.  We usually will be working with a particular pattern that has been showing up, possibly unnoticed, since childhood, and transforming the struggle into a loving and vulnerable power.   You will learn how to develop the deep listening and presence needed to hear what the pattern has been placed in your life to teach you.  You'll then how to respond to and experience the former challenge in a completely new, empowered and loving way.  In order to integrate your coaching sessions most deeply, you will be given daily practices to rewire your brain and nervous system.  It's amazing how simple something that once seemed so difficult can become when we are given the tools, support and caring space that help us grow and heal gracefully!

Energy Healing Classes:  Learn how to track energy in your mind, energy and body systems. We'll do some basic energy games, teaching you how to develop subtle awareness, set energetic boundaries, sense blockages in chakras and open them, and how to transform lower-vibrational consciousness to higher frequencies with tenderness and care.  You'll learn how to manifest and empower through intention, read people's energy when it's incongruent with their words and how to connect to and feel your divine nature and essence.  How fun is that?!  Everyone has psychic and intuitive abilities, they just need to be developed.

Access Consciousness Bars: Have you had your bars run? The Bars are 32 bars of energy that run through and around your head that connect to different aspects of your life. We call all of the points you touch when using this modality “The Bars.” The Bars store the electromagnetic component of all the thoughts, ideas, attitudes, decisions and beliefs that you have ever had about anything.  There are Bars for healing, body, control, awareness, creativity, power, aging, sex and money; 32 different ones in all. Each Bar corresponds with that aspect or area of your life that it is named. Touch one Bar and you begin to clear away the energy locked up in that area or aspect of your life just by touching it. Click here for more info

Thai Massage, or Thai Yoga Massage, is done fully clothed on a shiatsu mat on on a massage table.  It includes assisted stretching into yoga postures, rhythmic compression, neuromuscular techniques and flowy movement. My clients joke that it can feel like a soothing version of physical therapy.  I suggest this style of massage for athletes (especially if you want tight leg muscles stretched) or anyone that wants to experience the rhythm and movement of thai yoga massage.  If you're interested in this style, please let me know in advance, since you may be either on the table or on a shiatsu mat.

Ayurvedic abhyanga massage is a detoxifying, choreographed massage with warm, herbal oil designed to remove toxins from the tissues and lymph  light, lymphatic touch and friction.  It’s best when you are cleansing, especially in combination with an exfoliating Garshana scrub.  People came from all over the world to receive ayurvedic treatments like this when I was working for Dr. John Douillard.

Energy Work and Reiki:  Many people have heard the term energy work at some point. But what exactly is it? And how does energy work actually work? And why would anyone want or need to get energy work?  Energy healing modalities such as intuitive energy healing and Reiki, often referred to as energy work, involve the transfer and direction of universal life force energy to help clear, strengthen and balance one's energy field and energy pathways to facilitate, support and speed the healing processes. Sounds good as a sound-byte but what exactly does it mean? What is the energy field, why is it important and what does it have to do with our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being? And how does clearing, balancing and strengthening this "energy field" affect our health and well-being? So again, the question remains, how does energy work, work?
Let's break it down . . .

We are energy and we are surrounded by energy. Everything in the universe is energy at it's most basic level, and so are we. Within this sea of energy, each of us has our own unique energy field, our own unique energy pattern or vibration. This energy field is very complex. However, for our purposes we shall break it down into two simple components.

First there is the part of the energy field which is created by you. Created by your thoughts, your emotions, your actions, your beliefs, your experiences. Created by the electrochemical processes occurring within your physical body all the time. Created by your very existence. This part of your energy field emanates from you and surrounds you and is often referred to as the aura (the chakras are also a part of this energy field). The second component of your energy field is the universal life force energy flowing through and around you and your energy field.

There are many layers or "bodies" within this energy field and many energy pathways as well. Each layer of your energy field is typically associated with an aspect of yourself, for example, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. There are also many pathways within this energy field along which energy flows, connecting the different layers or energy bodies to each other. To help us better understand why this flow of energy is important and how it relates to our health and well-being, let's first take a look at what happens in our physical bodies.

One of the first concepts we learn in high school biology is the concept of homeostasis – maintaining a state of balance. It is amazing how many of the body's systems are involved or in maintaining balance: the right temperature, the right balance of electrolytes, the correct balance of hormones, etc. In addition many systems are designed to prevent the build up of wastes and toxins to help ensure the balance and healthy functioning of the body.

The human body is designed to be in a certain state of balance in order to function properly. And this state of balance is associated with the overall wellness or health of the individual. It is not something we have to think about or make happen, it is programmed into the body's very nature to be so. However, problems arise when the body's ability to maintain this homeostasis is disrupted in same way. This disruption can be in the form of something that impacts the body directly from outside itself, dropping a hammer on your foot for example. It can also occur when an essential nutrient or something else that the body needs to function correctly is not provided. Or it can be more indirect, the stress our lifestyles or our emotions can put on our bodies, interfering with our body's ability to repair and maintain itself. Furthermore, a problem in one part of the body eventually has an impact on every other part.

The same concepts hold true on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels in that balance is innate. These aspects of ourselves know where balanced is. It is when we are blocked in some way or are impacted by what is around us that we lose our balance.

Just as blood flows through your circulatory system, bringing nutrients to cells and removing harmful wastes, universal life force energy travels along the pathways of your energy systems. This life force energy not only nourishes and supports every cell of your body, it provides "nourishment" and support to you on the mental, emotional and spiritual levels as well. Each of these aspects of your being are intimately connected to each other and a problem in one can have an affect on the others. When the flow of life force energy within your energy field is disrupted, blocked, or out of balance, the healthy functioning of this energy field is impaired. This impairment can then manifest as mental, emotional, physical or spiritual issues within your life.

Our energies respond and are affected by the energies around us and in our environment. They can also be affected by our experiences and our life circumstances. Most importantly they are affected by our responses to the "outside" influences in our lives. Every thought, every emotion, that we have has an energy to it that affects our energy field. Every belief that we have has an energy pattern that our affects our energy field. Just as toxins can build up in our blood stream eventually poisoning the entire system if the body's systems of elimination are blocked, so our energy fields can become a toxic wasteland if we hold on to emotions, thoughts, and energy patterns whose time is past. So, our energy field is affected by us and it is affected by our environment (if we allow it to be).

Energy therapies such as Reiki and Intuitive Energy Healing, help to restore the healthy balance of the energy field and its associated energy pathways, clearing blockages and addressing imbalances, thereby facilitating health and wellness, keeping the healthy flow of energy moving through your energy field. Energy work can also help release energy patterns that interfere with the healthy functioning of one's energy systems.

Many people find energy work to be a beneficial tool for chronic and acute pain; mental clarity; relaxation and stress management; depression and anxiety; spiritual growth and connection; an enhanced sense of inner peace and well-being; release of unwanted patterns and energies, improved immunity, recovery from surgery; chronic or acute illness; support during times of transition or challenge; life purpose and direction; healing from abuse, trauma and neglect; grief; and minimizing the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Both Reiki and Intuitive Energy Healing are safe non-invasive energy healing techniques that are safe for children, adults and animals. During a healing session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on, or slightly off, the body to channel and direct the flow of universal life force energy for the recipient, clearing blockages, restoring balance and 'charging' the system with additional universal life force energy, not unlike charging a battery. The goal is to restore the healthy functioning of the energy field and thus promote and facilitate healing for body, mind and spirit.

The mind-energy-body healing techniques I practice are interactive, and help transform the pain of emotional blockages and negative beliefs into connection, wholeness, deep personal power and love.  This is my favorite part of my work and feels amazing!
